KVM extenders - increase your possibilities.

Extend the access to your computers to up to 10,000m and still work in real time

DisplayPort, DVI and VGA KVM Extenders enable you to operate your computers over distances up to 10,000 m whilst maintaining real-time performance. The systems consist of a computer module (transmitter) and a user module (receiver).

With our MultiChannel variants it is possible to realize multi-monitor workplaces. A local console at the computer module placed in the server room makes it easy for the IT staff to maintain the system.

The functionality of our KVM switches

KVM extenders transmit the following computer signals

  • Video signal (DisplayPort™, DVI SL, DVI DL, VGA; single or multi-channel)
  • Keyboard/mouse (PS/2 & USB)
  • USB 1.1, USB 2.0 transparent
  • Audio & RS232
  • Remote power switching

Your advantages using our KVM extender

  • More space at your desk
  • Less noise and heat emission
  • Reduced waste of energy
  • Quick access to CPUs for service staff
  • Permanent system control via SNMP and monitoring

KVM extender in the focus

What is a KVM extender?

A KVM extender extends keyboard, video and mouse signals to operate a computer from a great distance.

An extender system consists of a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter is connected to the computer’s keyboard, video, and mouse interfaces, while the transmitter is connected at the remote console. Both devices are connected with one or more cables.

How does a KVM extender work?

Link the computer to the back of the transmitter. Distinctive cables connect the computer’s keyboard, video, mouse, audio, RS232, and USB interfaces to the computer module.

Installing the user console is just as easy: simply connect the operating hardware with the corresponding interfaces of the DP-Vision receiver.

Use the existing cabling structure to link transmitter and receiver.

What do I need to consider when selecting a KVM extender?

KVM extenders are used to connect different workstations to the respective computers. The correct choice of KVM Extender system is based on your individual customer requirements, and you should also consider the required features and characteristics of each system.

The most significant questions for you in advance:

  • What distance should the KVM Extender system cover?
  • Which transmission medium is available on site or should be used? (CAT, LwL or IP)
  • What video signals do you want to extend and what is the maximum desired resolution?
  • Do you use one screen workstation (single channel) or several screens (multi-channel)?
  • Which other computer signals, such as USB, PS/2, audio, RS232 etc. must be included in the application?

Based on our long experience as KVM experts, we help you to find the right KVM extender system for your application. Just ask us.

What types of KVM extender systems are available??

The selection of KVM extenders at G&D is unbelievably diverse and offers an almost infinite number of possibilities for you to personalize them.

We basically divide our KVM extender into three categories – the transmission media:

  • CAT variants
  • LwL variants
  • KVM-over-IP:

Then the KVM extenders are differentiated according to the video signal and their resolution.

  • DisplayPort
  • Dual Link DVI
  • Single Link DVI
  • VGA (analog video signal)
  • compressed or uncompressed video transmission

Finally, in addition to the keyboard and mouse signals, the other peripheral devices are added. The single channel variants are designed for one screen at the workstation, the multi channel variants can, depending on the variant, display up to four screens per workstation.

Can I use KVM extenders to turn a remote computer on or off??

Yes, the prerequisite is an extender line that has the option “AR” or “ARU” in its name (e.g. CATVision-ARU-CPU and -CON).

Additionally select the extension “Power” (e.g.: “CV Power”). Existing systems can also be upgraded from the factory. Please ask our KVM experts and let them advise you!
